WHAT IS STURRIDGE WEARING ?

The Premier League is back and Murdoch and his Sky Sports empire want more of your money, so, now in an attempt to draw more cash out of your pocket, Murdoch and his sycophants have come up with novel idea of calling his Sky Sports package “The Greatest Show on Earth”. Well, it ain’t Barnum and Barnum, that’s for sure, but to be fair to Murdoch he has excelled in the clown department by adding Daniel Sturridge to his roster of pundits.

Oh, my God, what is going on, I despise players like Sturridge, a guy who has made fortune out of the game, whilst showing very little desire to actually want to play. Sturridge should have been a top player, but in a sixteen year career he managed only 327 appearances. An England international, Sturridge, played at some top clubs, which, included Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea, however, you always got the feeling that when Sturridge was playing he was doing you a favour, showing a complete lack of hunger and desire to actually want to be on the field every week.

Now, he’s on the box telling you where players are going right and wrong, informing you players should be doing this and that, is he taking the p*** . To add insult to injury who is styling Sturridge’s wardrobe? Dear me, Daniel get a fashion sense, somebody needs to introduce him Mark Cho of The Armoury who might be able to show him how to dress properly (I very much doubt that even the venerable Mr Cho can help him) then Mr Lineker could take him down to George Cleverley to buy a decent pair of shoes.

To be a pundit, realistically you should be humble, understand the common man and have played consistently at the top level which gives you the respect of your peers. However, those principles are long gone, as football is not a sport anymore it’s showbiz, when I saw Roy Keane standing alongside Sturridge after a game I got the feeling that Keane was thinking maybe Souness was right to get out of the big top. Sturridge stole a living as player, now he is stealing one as a pundit. Outrageous.
